post-production sound work (U-I era)

While under contract at Universal-International (1951-1956), Janssen and his fellow Talent School actors were sometimes called upon to do post-production voice-over work on films they did not otherwise work on. This included individual line dubbing, group looping and sometimes even singing. This is as complete a list as exist of this work. Someone with an astute ear might hear Janssen’s voice on the sound track of these films:

SMOKE SIGNAL 8/9/54 dubbing wild lines
RETURN OF THE CREATURE 10/13/54 dubbing
LADY GODIVA OF COVENTRY 11/24/54 dubbing
THE MAN FROM BITTER RIDGE 12/1/54 dubbing
MAN WITHOUT A STARON 12/2/54 singing recording
THE PURPLE MASK 1/8/55 loops
THE SHRIKE 1/10/55 loops
KISS OF FIRE 3/1/55 loops
FRANCIS IN THE NAVY 3/3/55 narration
NAT KING COLE MUSICAL SHORT 3/22/55 narration
THERE'S ALWAYS TOMORROW 4/25/55 loops
THE SECOND GREATEST SEX 5/19/55 loops
THE KETTLES IN THE OZARKS 7/28/55 loops
PILLARS OF THE SKY 9/30/55 loops
WORLD IN MY CORNER 11/3/55 loops
LIONEL HAMPTON MUSICAL SHORT 11/7/55 underscore

Notes

Not known if Janssen’s narration for FRANCIS IN THE NAVY (3/3/55) was for something other than his acting part in the film.

Not known what the ‘underscore’ done on the LIONEL HAMPTON MUSICAL SHORT (11/7/55) entailed.
