Accomplished photographer and photojournalist Leigh Wiener (1929-1993) became a professional at age 14, as did David Janssen. Getting early training on staff at the Los Angeles Times, Leigh went on to freelance and was often hired to cover the entertainment world. He would work on film and television shoots as a "special photographer" hired by clients such as ABC-TV, which resulted in the rare unpublshed images from "The Fugitive" below . Wiener created and hosted a talk show about his passion called "All About Pictures" which ran on KNBC, the Los Angeles NBC affiliate in the early 1980's. The rare blood disease which took his life at age 62 has been suspected to be linked to his assignment of documenting nuclear testing in Nevada for LIFE magazine in 1958.

PHOTO 43 The similarity between the last name of the actor and the name of a sportswear company most likely resulted in this pairing. It is not know if this ad campaign ever was utilized. |
